🎾 Our Story: Why Tennis Nerds Exists

Many people struggle with finding consistent, flexible, and meaningful ways to stay active and socially connected outside of highly competitive leagues or expensive club memberships. We built Tennis Nerds to solve that.

Our solution is an easily accessible, local league structure that prioritises & reward consistency, commitment, and IRL connection over traditional ranking pressure. We believe showing up is the first step toward lifelong well-being.

A 'TennisNerd' isn't just someone who loves the game; it’s someone who values the process, the strategy, and the growth that comes with every hit.

Our leagues and activities are guided by three core pillars that ensure we deliver value beyond the match score:

Consistency & Commitment: Our flexible league format encourages regular play, turning an intention to play into an unbreakable habit that supports long-term physical health. To celebrate this, we have "Commitment Champion Award" to rewards players who demonstrate exceptional dedication.

Building IRL Connections: We foster a supportive, welcoming environment where players of all abilities can meet new people, build IRL connections, and combat isolation. 📍 Join the town centre of our community on WhatsApp.

Well-being & Mental Health: The structure, physical activity, and social engagement are essential tools for promoting mental resilience. This is why our weekend sessions are specifically designed to slay the 'Sunday Scaries' through social play.

🎾 TennisNerds: Local Matchplay

Join a league or a social session, and play at a time and local court that suits you.

We currently run one mixed singles box league & few social sessions:

📍 Tennis Nerds League (TNL): Hertfordshire covering: Stevenage, Welwyn, Hatfield, Hitchin, Letchworth, St Albans, Harpenden, and surrounding villages.

📍 Social Doubles @ Shephalbury Park Tennis Courts, Stevenage, Hertfordshire.
